Cast Update: The Future of MUR

Hey everyone, Dane here. We’re coming up on our hundredth episode, and we have a few announcements. One not-so-easy announcement; a second, more uplifting announcement; and a third, MUR-adjacent announcement.

Okay, so, like I mentioned: not-so-easy announcement. The podcast, as it stands now, will be entering an indefinite hiatus after Episode 100. What does that mean, exactly? We will no longer be releasing regular bi-weekly content. We've all gotten busier over the years and it's become difficult for us to dedicate enough time to keep the podcast going at the quality we aim for. Now that each year's slate of AH:TCG products is released in two big boxes all at once, it's harder for us to generate engaging episode topics during the long dry spells. We plan to release two more episodes this Summer to get to Episode 100, and may release new episodes sporadically after that when new content releases. But we’re no longer releasing episodes on a regular, bi-weekly schedule as of today. Because we can’t guarantee regular content releases, we will also be shutting down the Patreon effective immediately (Billing for July has been turned off and it will be formally closed by end of July). To those kind patrons who have supported us, we thank you. Keep an eye out for a Patreon update and special token of our appreciation tomorrow.

To all of our listeners, viewers, guests, friends who hang out with us in discord, and folks who support us outside the podcast, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your incredible support. We really couldn’t have gotten this far without you. When the podcast started, it began as a small project for Dan and I to talk about the things we appreciate about Arkham Horror. Like Mark Harrigan and The Circle Undone, and kicking Lightning Gun to the curb. One Ben, a Harrison, and 90-something episodes later, we’re part of an incredible, inclusive community, have met new friends, interviewed creators of all kinds and chat daily with folks who appreciate our content. We had no idea we would grow into being a part of this community and we can't thank you all enough for continually cheering us on and listening to us talk about this brilliant game. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

While it is true that we are putting the podcast on hiatus, we will still be hanging out in the MUR discord, as we very much enjoy your company and Arkham Horror. Speaking of which…

Let’s move to more uplifting-type announcements. We’re designing a new promo card! This has been in the works for quite a while, but for reasons mentioned above, it’s been tough for us to coordinate. We don’t have an exact date yet and we want to keep exactly what it is under wraps for now, but what we can say is that after a long hunt for the right artist to work with, we found our illustrator! Stay tuned for updates on this front!

Finally, I (Dane) am creating a campaign with some great friends! I’ll release a more official post in the coming months, but through my campaign, I will be active in the community through the #Homebrew Arkham category of the Mythos Busters’ channel. Come hang out and meet all the super cool folks who inspired this endeavor and try some new Arkham campaigns while The Scarlet Keys is still in the works!

With all this said, keep an ear out for our final regularly-scheduled episodes (99 and 100) later this Summer. Again, thank you for all your support and we’ll catch you next time.

~ Dane
